Our Snorkeller Training Programme offers a clear pathway from beginner to experienced snorkeller. With each grade, you’ll grow in confidence, improve your technique and enjoy more of the underwater world — safely and at your own pace.

Teaching kids snorkelling safety on holiday

Let’s face it. Kids can get a little excited when snorkelling and it’s hard as parents to get them to understand the importance of water safety; no matter how many times you read the riot act. Keeping an eagle eye on them is essential, of course – they’ll always be safer under your strict supervision. But you can add another layer of protection by making sure they’ve been taught to snorkel correctly and safely. With the right snorkelling skills your children will get so much more from the experience. They’ll love our ‘Snorkelling for Kids’ course because we will show them how to have the best fun whilst snorkelling on holiday. And you’ll love it because we’ve embedded safety at every stage of the learning.

We’re based at Penarth Leisure Centre Pool and we have decades of diving experience

We are Cardiff BSAC – the local branch of The British Sub-Aqua Club, a world leading and internationally respected scuba diving organisation. As well as snorkelling and try-dives, we also offer beginner and advanced diving courses, and refresher courses for lapsed divers. So, we really do know what we are doing. Rest assured that everything we do is professional, responsible and above all else, safe.

Snorkeller Courses

We offer courses for snorkelling superstars of all ages, from young children to adults who simply want to gain confidence and have more fun in the water.

Dolphin Snorkeller

Aimed at younger children, Dolphin Snorkeller is all about fun! Kids take part in seven lively in-water sessions, each themed around a different type of dolphin. Every time they complete a session, they earn a dolphin sticker—and when they collect the full set, they become a BSAC Dolphin Snorkeller. To move on to the next level, they just need to complete the Snorkel Diver theory and knowledge review.

Snorkel Diver

Perfect for beginners (or those progressing from Dolphin Snorkeller), this course introduces safe snorkelling techniques in a pool or sheltered water. It includes theory sessions to help you understand the basics and build your confidence. You’ll learn essential snorkelling skills while having fun and exploring a whole new world beneath the surface. Learn more

Advanced Snorkeller

This course takes you beyond the basics. With more advanced theory and open-water snorkelling, you’ll become a capable and confident snorkeller ready for more adventurous dives. Advanced Snorkellers are trained to be self-reliant, safety-aware, and ready for varied conditions.

From Snorkeller to Scuba Try-Diver at Penarth Leisure Centre Pool

If you like snorkelling, we bet you would absolutely love scuba diving. But don’t take our word for it, come and try it for yourself. On Wednesdays at Penarth Pool, we hold our try-diving sessions for people looking for an exciting underwater experience. For just £25 one of our qualified instructors will get you kitted up and take you for a swim underwater. All the scuba kit is supplied. All you need to bring is a towel, an old t-shirt and loads of enthusiasm!

And who knows, you may love it so much you’ll decide to enrol on our beginners diving course so you can learn how to become a fully-fledged scuba diver. How exciting would that be?
