Pier with the tide out

Spring and Neap Tides

The following tidal curves are produced using tidal data for Cardiff, but spring and neap tides for any area around the UK are on the same dates.

These graphs are provided as an aid to dive planning. It is the responsibility of the dive manager to obtain correct tide and weather information for any site you wish to dive.

When planning dives in areas with strong current, selecting dates with a small tidal range, known as a Neap Tide, is an advantage. The reduced water flow during these periods generally improves visibility and extends the duration of “Slack Water” (the period of minimal current).

For consistency of display with the daily spread of tide times, some dates along the bottom of each graph are repeated. Weekend dates are highlighted in yellow.
