Ever imagined what it would be like to scuba dive? Are you fascinated by what life is like under the sea, or below the surface of a lake? You are not alone. Most of our scuba divers were first attracted to the sport because they wanted to get closer to amazing marine life or explore the incredible wrecks that lie on the ocean floors around our coastline.
And for many of these scuba divers, it was a try-dive that got them well and truly hooked.
Try-dives are the perfect way to test the water first, and to see whether scuba diving is the sport for you.
You’ll be partnered up with a fully qualified instructor and taught the basics of scuba diving, from preparing kit to safety procedures. And, of course, you’ll get the chance to dive in and swim underwater. All kit is provided, so all you need to bring along is a swimming costume and an old T shirt. You’ll need to be able to swim and have a reasonable level of confidence in the water, and we’ll ask you to sign a medical declaration prior to your try dive.
Our local Cardiff branch is run entirely by volunteers who like nothing better than to share their love of the sport with others. Our qualified instructors give their time for free That’s why our try-dives are so affordable. The £25 helps to cover pool fees and other club costs.
If two of you come along together, it’s even cheaper. We’ll reduce the cost to £45.
You can also wow your family and friends with one of our try-dive gift vouchers.
So go on, banish those boring prezzies, and gift them a memorable underwater experience. Please note the voucher is valid for 12 months from issue.

You could enrol on our Snorkelling Course which is a natural step up from the Try-Dive because you learn how to ‘duck -dive’ which is great fun and allows you to get closer to the marine life underwater.
Or you can take the plunge and start our beginners diving course – which we call the Ocean Divers course. Being a qualified Ocean Diver means you can start to go on shore dives, quarry dives and boat dives and experience the thrill of exploring wrecks and wildlife underwater up to depths of 20 metres. And with so many qualified divers around you, with decades of experience in the tank, you get all the advice and mentoring support you need to progress onto BSAC’s more advanced courses later. That’s the beauty of being part of a club. Everyone’s there to help.
We think you’ll enjoy your try-dive so much you’ll want to carry on. So, to help get you back in the water, we’ll take off the £25 you spent on the try-dive from our training fees.
